Semi-interesting biographical note: my brother is a volunteer fire captain (in a place even colder than Vermont) but to the best of my knowledge, he hasn’t had to rescue any horses yet.
A friend of mine who is an English music snob was trying to tell his friends back home what the music scene in Canada was like. He said, “Well, the latest album I bought has TWO songs about horses falling through ice.”
They were nonplussed, to say the least.
